Position
Peter is head of the IP and commercial team. His practice areas include media and publishing, research, higher education, art and cultural heritage. He is a Trustee of The Henry Moore Foundation; member of the Government and Regulatory Affairs Committee of PPA Business; Member of the Advisory Board of Transforming Tate Britain; and a Member of the Museums Intellectual Property Network. Previously he served for 10 years as an Expert Member, and latterly Deputy Chair of the Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information (APPSI). He is the author of the chapter on Newspapers in Copinger, one of the leading text books on copyright law. Recent experience includes advising: Imperial College London on its collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) to launch a joint undergraduate medical degree programme at a new medical school in Singapore; the British Library on its Newspaper Digitisation Project a partnership with brightsolid online technology, owned by DC Thomson, for the digitisation of up to 40m pages of the Library’s newspaper archive (see the British Library announcement here); Duchy Originals on its Master Licence Agreement with Waitrose; he is Deputy Chair of the Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information (APPSI), which advises Ministers on opening up opportunities for greater re-use of Government information. Peter represents the firm in its membership of the Professional Publishers’ Association (PPA), is a member of the Society for Computers & Law (SCL), a co-founder and former chair of the Museums Copyright Group (MCG) and also a trustee of The Henry Moore Foundation.
