Jonathan advises employers and senior executives on the full range of legal issues connected with employment, including large-scale redundancies, TUPE, team moves, contract changes and employment litigation. His employer clients include media organisations, charities (including schools), NDPBs, galleries and museums and professional firms (including other law firms, accountancy practices and barristers chambers).


Jonathan spent three years teaching at a leading independent school before joining Farrer & Co in 1999 as a trainee solicitor. He qualified in 2001 and became a partner in 2008.

Farrer & Co handles a wide range of educational matters, including issues ranging from harassment to immigration and mergers and acquisitions. In addition to this, the practice advises on the financial and safeguarding sides of schooling across the UK. Head of education Jonathan Eley has been advising schools on withdrawal from the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and union issues.
