Career

Berkan graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2013 and was admitted to the İstanbul Bar Association in 2014. Upon having worked in one of the most reputable shipping law firms in Istanbul, he joined the Inal team in 2015. Since then, he provides legal consultancy to both Turkish and foreign clients in shipping, energy, finance, corporate and commercial, arbitration and dispute resolution.

He took a short break from his career in Inal Law Firm between 2016 and 2017 as he was admitted to the master’s degree program in European and International Energy Law at Technische Universität Berlin. Upon the submission of his thesis on “Impact Analysis of Third Party Access and Exemption Regimes in Gas Transportation, a comparison between the European Union and Turkey”, he successfully graduated from Technische Universität Berlin in 2017, and then re-joined the team.

He particularly advises his clients in ship and yacht building, ship finance, renewable energy, gas and LNG contracts, gas and electricity transportation, power plant construction and licensing, arbitration, enforcement of foreign court judgments and arbitration awards, cargo claims, P&I insurance and ship arrest.
