Position
Annemieke is an expert in the area of liability law and insurance law and works in our offices in Amsterdam and London. Annemieke studied at Maastricht University (1996) and at University College London (LLM).
Annemieke is known – internationally – for her expertise in the area of directors’ and officers’ liability. She provides assistance to directors and supervisory directors/supervisors of companies and non-profit organisations, including housing corporations and healthcare institutions, in national and international disputes.
(Members of) executive boards and supervisory boards frequently consult her with regard to their positions and their responsibilities during (financially) tough times or other complex situations.
As an insurance expert, Annemieke handles cover disputes on behalf of and between insurers. She advises on policy conditions, particularly in the area of directors’ and officers’ liability and professional liability insurance, fraud and other financial lines. Recent experience includes claims under M&A related insurance products. As a member of our Cyber Security Team, she particularly focuses on (insuring) cyber risks. In directors’ and officers’ liability cases insurers often engage her as monitoring counsel as well in order to liaise between the various defence lawyers involved.
Annemieke is member of the editorial team of the online publication Tijdschrift Verzekeringsrecht, Aansprakelijkheid, Schade en Toezicht (VAST), formerly known as the Tijdschrift Aansprakelijkheids- en Verzekeringsrecht in de Praktijk (TAV). She frequently publishes and lectures on the subject of directors’ and officers’ liability and insurance.
Annemieke is a member of the Advisory Committee on Insurance of the Dutch Bar Association
Annemieke invariably appears on the ‘recommended lists’ of leading directories such as Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500.
Career
Annemieke joined Van Doorne in 1997, becoming a partner in 2011. Frequently lectures and publishes, in particular on D&O liability.
