Sijbren is a pension law specialist. Sijbren has become partner as per 1 January 2023. He represents a large number of pension providers and providers of pension services. He also advises Dutch and foreign companies on pension related issues. Sijbren has broad experience in the field of transferring assets of pension funds, pension fund liquidations, outsourcing, derisking pension schemes and mandatory participation in and exemptions from Sectoral Pension Funds (BPF). He also litigates in pension related issues (including the liabilities of providers of pension services).

Position
Sijbren is the author of the book called ‘Nederland Pensioenland’ (The Netherlands Pension sector) and co-author of a Pension Law manual. He also teaches pension law on a postgraduate programme. Sijbren is a regular contributor to law journals. Before he began work as a lawyer at Van Doorne, Sijbren worked at a number of universities, at a bank/insurance company and at a financial markets regulator.
