Van Doorne‘s wide-ranging workload covers merger control cases, behavioural investigations, state aid matters and EU law advice, among other areas. The firm has a particularly notable reputation in the healthcare sector; the key contact in this space is counsel Cees Jan de Boer, who assists clients with matters such as merger notifications, strategic alliances and procurement. Elsewhere, the firm attracts competition law work from clients operating in various other industries, including financial services, mobility services, consumer goods and retail. The arrival of Léone Klapwijk from Loyens & Loeff in November 2020 strengthened the firm’s presence in the energy sector. Other key practitioners at the firm include Sarah Beeston and associate Pim Jansen, who have an interest in the interplay between competition law and sustainability initiatives. Public procurement expert Gijs Verberne is also recommended. Recent highlights included Beeston, and associates Nina Korstenbroek and Maurits Terlouw, acting for EasyPark on the competition aspects of its acquisition of ParkNOW from BMW and Daimler.
Van Doorne is ‘flexible and quick in responses’ and offers clients ‘in-depth knowledge of relevant legal issues’. It has a particular focus on medical devices, pharmaceutical law and data protection, and caters to the corporate, regulatory and litigation needs of clients. Willemien Bischot acts for large healthcare providers on governance, mergers and joint ventures, and funding and financing matters. Dimitri van Hoewijk is recommended for corporate M&A, and counsel Cees Jan de Boer, who is a qualified medical doctor, handles market regulation and competition matters.
