Career
Taco de Lange is a partner and civil-law notary at AKD who specialises in real estate and area development. Taco advises national and international clients on transactions, joint ventures, transformation projects, infrastructure, financings, risk analyses and legal design. He also focuses on logistical real estate and hotels/leisure.
Taco acts for leading (inter)national institutional investors, financiers, housing associations, government bodies, area and property developers, sovereign wealth funds and family (investment) companies. His clients appreciate his exceptional negotiating skills, his thorough knowledge of real estate and his commercial attitude.
According to Chambers: ‘Clients identify Taco de Lange as a stand-out notary. “He’s our legal conscience, I wouldn’t do anything without him knowing”, said one.’ The Legal 500 wrote: ‘Taco de Lange demonstrates excellent negotiating skills’ and: ‘technically and commercially strong’.
Taco is a member of various interest and specialist groups, such as the Dutch Green Building Council and the 3D Land Registry think tank. He is also involved in the innovative Madaster Platform, which is a public, online library of materials in the built environment. Taco also lectures at the Amsterdam School of Real Estate on, among other things, the subjects of leaseholds and rights of superficies. In addition to that he works as an editor for two leading journals and is a regular author of a third journal.
Moreover Taco is near the top of various leading international and national listings. For example he won the ‘Thought Leader Real Estate’ global award, an honour bestowed on only 18 other real estate lawyers in the year in question. The jury report stated: ‘They are worthy of special mention owing not only to their vast expertise and experience advising on some of the world’s most significant and cutting-edge legal matters, but also their ability to innovate, inspire, and go above and beyond to deliver for their clients.’
In the view of experts: ‘Taco de Lange possesses an “impressive breadth of knowledge across real estate law” and forms “strong partnerships with clients” who appreciate his “astute mind and calm demeanour”. Chambers Europe also states: Taco de Lange has extensive experience as a notary in handling real estate financing, joint venture transactions and infrastructure projects. Sources say: “He knows his stuff. I have a pleasant relationship with him, and he’s good at what he does.”
