Leo is a Partner in the William Fry Technology Group, specialising in information technology (including e-commerce), data protection, intellectual property and commercial law. As part of his practice Leo advises on IT and business process outsourcing, software licensing and development, Internet of Things, apps and smart technology, e-commerce, cloud computing, systems integration, FinTech, strategic legal due diligence and on sports related matters. A regular contributor of articles to publications, Leo has also participated in lecture programmes on data protection, commercial law and intellectual property. He is a lecturer on the Law Society’s Diploma Programme and its Professional Practice.
Leo is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and of the International Trade Mark Association (INTA). He is also a registered Irish and European Trade Mark and Design Attorney.

The data privacy team in William Fry advises a number of prominent clients from the tech sector and beyond on data-related matters. The team provides advice on compliance with regulations at both an Irish and European level, including assisting clients with the launch of new products. In addition, the practice advises on the data protection elements of commercial matters, including outsourcing agreements. Practice head David Cullen is active both in contentious and non-contentious matters. Leo Moore and John O’Connor are also key names in the team; Moore is noted for his broad expertise across the IP, data privacy and technology spaces, while O’Connor has experience with with novel technologies such as blockchain. The team expanded further at senior level when David Kirton was promoted to partner in May 2021.
William Fry is highly active across the intellectual property space, acting for Irish and international clients from sectors including pharmaceuticals, technology, and food and beverages. Leo Moore and David Cullen lead on the team’s non-contentious work, which includes aiding clients in managing trade mark portfolios, both in Ireland and in other jurisdictions across Europe; it also provides advice on protecting IP rights and the commercial exploitation of these rights. Laura Scott is frequently instructed in patent, trade mark and copyright disputes in the Irish courts, with a particular specialism in the life sciences sector; other key figures in IP litigation include Colette Brady and Charleen O’Keeffe.
William Fry counts prominent technology multinationals among its clients, providing advice on corporate and commercial matters, including acting on both the customer and vendor sides of outsourcing deals. The practice is also frequently engaged to advise clients on compliance with Irish and European regulation, such as GDPR and other data protection legislation, as well as the EU Copyright Directive. David Cullen leads the team and is supported by Leo Moore and John O’Connor; all three have broad practices in this space. The team’s partnership ranks were also bolstered by the promotion of David Kirton in May 2021.
