Position

Alicia Compton is a Partner in William Fry’s Employment & Pensions Department. She advises on employment matters with particular experience in advising on the employment aspects of corporate restructuring, the termination of employment and in relation to employment issues in the public sector. Alicia has written extensively on employment law and is the Practice and Procedure contributor to the Irish Employment Law Journal.

William Fry is particularly experienced in the financing and procurement of major public sector infrastructure projects, as well as advising on state aid, regulatory enforcement and public investigations. The team acts for government departments, local authorities and a number of financial bodies operating in the public sector. The practice is led by Claire Waterson, who specialises in competition, state aid and telecoms regulatory matters. Other key contacts include public sector employment expert Alicia Compton; Garrett Breen, who is experienced in regulatory litigation; and projects and construction head Jarleth Heneghan, who specialises in IT infrastructure.

William Fry advises on the employment and employee benefits aspects of IPOs and M&A transactions, and also represents employers in disputes involving issues such as unfair dismissal and discrimination. Elsewhere, the team has recently advised clients on Covid-19 issues, such as accessing government support, redundancies and immigration issues caused by border restrictions. Catherine O’Flynn leads the team, which also includes Alicia Compton and Jeffrey Greene. Ailbhe Dennehy joined as a partner from A&L Goodbody LLP in January 2020.
