Magnus Nordøy Snellingen – Wiersholm

The key strength of Wiersholm’s insurance practice lies in its extensive knowledge of insurance law and regulatory issues. The firm regularly acts on behalf of policyholders and insurance companies on a wide range of insurance matters and assists clients with matters involving the Norwegian and foreign supervisory authorities. The team also has competencies in insurance litigation and arbitration proceedings and often represents major international clients in industry leading liability dispute settlements.  The team is jointly led by recently promoted partner Magnus Nordøy Snellingen, regulatory expert Kjersti Trøbråten and litigator Olav Fr Perland; shipping specialist Christian Hauge is also an active member of the team. Former group head Hans Kenneth Viga-Gerhardsen moved to an in-house role in 2022.

At Wiersholm, the team provides advice to Deutsche Bank regarding ongoing liability claims arising from the enforcement in Norway of a UK ruling against Sebastian Holding; Olav Perland, who is well regarded for his strength in financial and corporate litigation, leads on this matter. Perland co-heads the department with international arbitration expert Stephan Jervell and Thomas G Naalsund, who is admitted to appear before the Supreme Court and has experience in assisting oil and gas sector entities with contentious mandates. Other key practitioners include firm managing partner Morten Goller, who advises on contentious public procurement, tax, competition, contract and construction matters; IP and TMT expert Magnus Hellesylt; and Magnus Nordøy Snellingen, who has expertise in insurance litigation. Managing associate Odin Breidvik is ‘an excellent lawyer and litigator‘.
