Career

Teresa is a member of the M&A and Corporate Governance Practice Areas of Uría Menéndez’s Madrid office and is responsible for the firm’s Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Practice Area.

Teresa joined the firm in 1992. She was based in the London office in 1994 and 1995, and became a partner in 2002. Between 2003 and 2005, Teresa headed the Communication, Health and IP Practice Group of the Barcelona office.

Teresa focuses her professional practice on corporate, commercial and M&A matters. She has extensive experience in regulatory and corporate and commercial matters in several regulated sectors, and especially in the pharmaceutical and mass media industries.

From 2014 through 2019, Teresa has been responsible for the firm’s Diversity & Talent group.

Paz-Ares has extensive expertise in corporate and M&A transactions in the life sciences sector, while Monteagudo acts for numerous global pharma laboratories in disputes involving copyright and patents. Beatriz Cocina in Madrid regularly advises medtech, healthcare, and biotech clients on a broad range of mandates, including pricing and market access, promotional disputes, and financing. Working out of the Barcelona office, Francisco Javier García is noted for his deep knowledge of IP issues, with particular emphasis on privacy, unfair competition litigation and drug advertising.

Montiano Monteagudo co-leads the group from Barcelona, attracting unfair competition and corporate mandates from domestic and multinational players. Fellow co-head Teresa Paz-Ares is based in Madrid, and advises clients in this space on regulatory, corporate and commercial issues.
