Teresa Paz-AresUría Menéndez

Uría Menéndez has a ‘really strong healthcare and life sciences team’, which offers the ‘highest standard of quality’ and is always up to speed on the ‘ins and outs of the pharmaceutical industry’. The department, which has notable skills in both non-contentious and contentious mandates, is jointly led by corporate, commercial and M&A expert Teresa Paz-Ares and José Massaguer, who focuses on innovation and IP. Montiano Monteagudo, counsel Beatriz Cocina, who for some is ‘undoubtedly one of the best life sciences lawyers in this country’, and principal associate Francisco Javier García are also noted.

Spain > Industry focus: Manufacturing

An ‘excellent team on all fronts’ says a client about the sizable practice at Uría Menéndez, which comprises lawyers from several practice areas including corporate and commercial, administrative and regulatory, intellectual property, competition and litigation. Recently, the practice has taken part in large financing and M&A transactions in the industrial and manufacturing sector, as in the case of its advice to Cemex on the sale of its global white cement business to Cimsa. Patricia Vidal, a leading lawyer in the ‘field of competition applied to the manufacturing sector‘; Teresa Paz-Ares; Tomás Arranz; and counsel Jaime Calvo Retuerto are active members of the practice.
