Career

Michael Schmiedinger has been with Schoenherr since 2017. He has a strong focus on financial services regulatory law and regularly assists in advising both national and international financial institutions in a wide range of financial services regulatory law-related matters, including CRD IV/V, CRR/CRR II, MiFID II, PSD II, UCITS and AIFMD. Michael has also developed profound knowledge in advising financial institutions (ranging from well-established market players to rapidly growing fintechs) on the structuring and implementation of online-based business models, including the offering of services related to crypto-assets and other blockchain-based applications. In addition, Michael is regularly involved in high-volume (cross-border) M&A transactions in the financial sector, where he has covered ownership control and other regulatory matters. Besides such financial regulatory and transactional work, Michael specialises in derivatives-related matters, and in consumer finance legislation and related aspects.
