Lesley trained with McCann FitzGerald LLP and was appointed Of Counsel in 2022. She is responsible for managing our team of media defence specialists and a busy caseload of media related disputes. She is an expert media defence practitioner with many years of experience of managing civil jury actions and advisory work for media clients. An adept and skilled negotiator, clients very much value Lesley’s commercial approach. Lesley has been involved in some seminal cases, including Denis O’Brien v MGN Limited, Hickey v Associated Newspapers, and Leech v Independent Newspapers.
Procedural wrangles are a core feature of large scale media disputes and Lesley is a skilled commercial litigator, whose practice has included acting as co-ordinating associate on some of Ireland’s most complex commercial disputes including IBRC –v- Drumm, IBRC –v- Quinn and Trafalgar –v- Mazepin. Her witness preparation skills are second to none, and she is expert in managing large discoveries and document productions, including dealing with source protection issues and privilege, and has particular expertise in managing cross border media disputes, often involving issues relating to jurisdiction and forum.
