Career

Martin became a partner in 2002. He has many years' experience in advising clients in the media and entertainment industries, particularly the newspaper, publishing and sports sectors. In addition to providing advice and negotiating agreements, Martin has also conducted cases before Danish and international courts, arbitration tribunals and commissions, including the European Court of Justice, the international Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and national and international complaints boards for domain names. Martin has conducted media and copyright cases of general public importance in which significant principles have been determined, such as the use of digital technology in connection with copyright material and the limits of artistic freedom of expression in relation to the right to privacy.

Martin obtained his law degree (cand.jur.) from the University of Copenhagen in 1993, and sub-sequently an LL.M. in Trade Regulation from New York University in 1997.

Kromann Reumert handles disputes and arbitrations for a client roster, which includes Dong Energy, Jyske Bank and SAS Denmark. Practice leader Jens Rostock-Jensen recently represented Scandinavian Airlines in a case relating to whether the airline owed compensation for flights delayed due to thunderstorms, Claus Juel Hansen acted for Finansiel Stabilitet in a DKK250m claim against the former directors, officers and auditors of Eik Bank Danmark, and media and entertainment specialist Martin Dahl Pedersen defended the Danish media against an injunction brought by The Danish Civil Security Service relating to a book, which contained confidential information. Frank Bøggild also acted for supermarket chain Coop in a dispute filed by Kasper Wßrtz alleging that the use of its products in advertisements was a breach of copyright law.

Kromann Reumert covers the full spectrum of IP law for clients including Pandora and McDonald's. Recent highlights include patent litigator and practice head Nicolai Lindgreen acting for Coloplast, which sought a preliminary injunction against MBH relating to the sale of a urinary catheter which allegedly infringed upon the client's patents; and trade mark and copyrights litigator Frank Bøggild representing Coop in a dispute regarding its use of ceramics and art in its adverts without the consent of the original artists. Other noteworthy names include Martin Dahl Pedersen, who is an expert in copyright and domain name disputes; and Nicolaj Bording, who is skilled in trade mark and patent litigation.

Group leader Martin Dahl Pedersen also recently represented Aller Media in matters relating to its publication SEogHØR, which was involved in a phone hacking scandal; and acted for Dorte Riis Madsen, who is the former manager of Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen, in a contractual dispute.
