Recently, the team has been particularly active in the areas of acquisition finance and project finance within the renewable energy segment, including in wind and solar power projects, propelled by foreign investment. Its cross-border expertise is also noteworthy, especially when it comes to inbound and outbound investments and large-scale project finance deals in Lusophone countries in Africa. Department leader Filipe Lowndes Marques focuses on the financing of major projects, which is also an area of focus for Luís Branco. Of counsel Cláudia Castanheira Dos Santos advises on project finance in the energy sector and road concessions, and is a key contact for cross-border mandates. The team is seen with great regularity acting for clients in market-shaping transactions, and has been particularly active advising on acquisition finance, real estate finance and project finance, especially in the energy sector. Benefitting from solid relationships with leading firms based in Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa, the team is adept at handling complex, multi-jurisdictional financing deals. Furthermore, the firm has recently partnered up with Portugal Fintech and Microsoft to launch Fintech365, which was designed to accelerate proofs of concept between technology companies and corporations in the banking, finance and insurance sectors. Practice head Filipe Lowndes Marques is noted for his experience in project finance.
