Samantha was appointed to the Gibraltar Development Appeals Tribunal in 2019, and was previously Chair to the Medical Injuries Appeal Tribunal. She is also currently a mentor on the Government of Gibraltar’s Women’s Mentorship Programme.

Employment Law

Samantha continues to work extensively in the area of employment law, advising largely employing companies, including banks, international gaming companies, insurance companies, new start-ups in the DLT and gaming sectors, and larger local businesses on a wide range of employment law issues from advising on disciplinary matters or employee relations issues, defending Employment Tribunal claims, advising on exit agreements, drafting or reviewing contracts and policies, providing in-house training and guiding employers through collective redundancy situations and so on.

Samantha combines advising her clients on the law with giving an insight into the commercial aspects and considerations, as well as providing training to her clients, including sessions to local businesses and HR professionals on topics such as how to handle long-term sickness issues.

Hand in hand with this work, Samantha also advises on immigration matters covering permits to work and visa requirements.

Construction & Property Development

Samantha acts for the landlords of some of Gibraltar’s largest commercial developments, assisting them with all aspects of their commercial property including drafting and negotiating commercial leases and licenses, advising on business tenancy terminations, assisting with other landlord/tenant disputes such as non-payment of rent and services charges.

This commercial property work sits alongside Samantha’s construction and financing project work acting for developer clients, local banks and other private funders. In recent years Samantha has formed part of the construction and financing team working on a hotel development, a large high-end residential development in its second and third phases, an extension to an existing large commercial property, and a refinancing of a residential construction project.

Probate

Samantha has a busy probate caseload in connection with foreign nationals holding assets in Gibraltar and often involving cross-border succession issues. Her practice extends to litigious probate matters.
