Overview

A qualified Barrister, Danielle is part of ISOLAS’ litigation team. Danielle deals with all types of disputes, including company, commercial, insolvency, employment and landlord and tenant litigation, although her specialty lies in personal injury and clinical negligence litigation. Danielle is now growing her employment, practice, both in an advisory non-contentious capacity, as well as in the context of contentious litigation.

In addition to her varied dispute resolution workload, Danielle also regularly advises some of Gibraltar’s leading banks on contentious and non-contentious matters, focussing on the review of legal and regulatory developments affecting them and drafting policies to ensure compliance with the same.

Commercial & Litigation

Danielle’s primary focus remains in the firm’s growing Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence practice, where she has had significant success, acting mainly for defendants but also for claimants and whose clients have varied between insurers and claim handers to children and protected parties. Danielle has dealt with a variety of cases ranging from injuries arising from misdiagnosis and negligent treatment of injuries and illnesses to injuries at work and occupiers’ liability claims generally, to work-related stress claims, road traffic accidents and cases involving catastrophic injuries.

Employment

Danielle assists Partner Samantha Grimes in her employment practice, specifically advising on compromise agreements, employee policies and procedures, compliance with employment legislation and more generally on potential unfair dismissal claims, redundancies and disciplinary and grievance procedures.

Danielle has a particular interest in health and safety in the workplace and the evolving Bullying at Work legislation and case law in Gibraltar and has presented and advised the firm’s employer clients and union representative clients as to the practical implications that the legislation is having on employees and employers alike.

Banking & Regulatory

Danielle regularly assists Partner, James Montado in his banking practice, advising some of Gibraltar’s leading Banks by advising on litigation matters, legal and regulatory developments affecting them and assisting in formulating strategy and policy designed to envelop all relevant changes. In this respect, her expertise lies in advising in respect of the Payment Services Directive (PSD & PSD2) and the Payment Accounts Directive (PAD). She has also advised and presented on General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Leisure

As one of seven children, Danielle is no stranger to conflict and resolving disputes and, more often than not, getting her way.. She plays netball in a local team and enjoys keeping fit generally. In October 2019 she completed the Cardiff Half Marathon and is currently training towards the Lisbon Half Marathon, with the aim of improving her time! Danielle is also a keen traveller, getting away whenever her workload permits. In the winter months she also enjoys skiing.
