Position

Michael Steen Jensen heads up Gorrissen Federspiel’s Banking & Finance practice group and advises banks and financial institutions on all aspects of finance law, securities, securitisation, bond issues, project finance and the regulatory matters of financial institutions. He also advises on netting, financial collateral and clearing.

Michael has extensive hands-on experience with establishing, acquiring, merging, selling and winding up financial institutions, and he is a director in the Danish Association of Banking and Finance Law.

Career

Joined the firm in 1984 and became a partner in 1991. Seconded to Linklaters & Paines, London 1990-91.

The group has a prominent regulatory practice, with Morten Nybom Bethe considered a ‘go-to’ practitioner for regulatory matters. In Copenhagen, Michael Steen Jensen heads up the practice and has extensive experience in debt capital markets work, advising on junior covered bonds and senior debt in addition to international debt programmes and hybrid capital. Tina Herbing is a ‘skilled financing lawyer’ who handles mandates in connection with ship finance and project finance issues. Mikkel Fritsch is also recommended and Lotte Eskesen leads the group in Aarhus. The capital markets team at Gorrissen Federspiel advises on both ECM and DCM transactions, with particular expertise in IPOs and stock exchange listings. The team also has a strong track record in spin-off and demerger work as well as issues relating to high-yield bonds. Practice head Rikke Schiøtt Petersen is a ‘truly exceptional adviser’ and is skilled in handling public M&A and ECM deals for international corporates, while Klaus Søgaard represents major Danish listed companies.
