Position

Partner of Gide’s Beijing office and head of Gide’s China Tax Practice, Guo Min joined Gide in 2005 after working for one of the Big Four accounting firms. She specialises in PRC taxation and accounting. Having advised many companies on their foreign investments in China, she has deep expertise in analysing and structuring the fiscal aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project financing, company restructuring, foreign investment projects and tax-related reforms and disputes. She also has specialist experience in customs law, foreign exchange control and corporate legal matters, and has worked on a wide range of notable PRC and international matters for global clients.

Gide Loyrette Nouel A.A.R.P.I.'s 'overall service is good and the legal analysis is thorough and documented'. The practice is experienced in regulated industries such as aeronautics and defence, automotive, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and steel. The team is also active in deals involving the banking and finance, retail, manufacturing, and tourism and leisure sectors. The practice in China has expanded beyond its traditional client base of French corporations; it now also increasingly acts for other European multinational groups and Chinese entities. David Boitout is the partner in charge of the firm's practice in Asia; Fan Jiannian, who 'provides rigorous legal thinking and has very good command of the French language', is Shanghai office head; while Guo Min heads the Beijing office.

Gide Loyrette Nouel A.A.R.P.I. advises many of France's largest energy and infrastructure companies on their activities in China, and also assists private Chinese project companies and SOEs with investment and development mandates in Africa. In 2017-2018, the group handled an increasing flow of transport, communications and port infrastructure projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Department head Min Guo has experience in inbound and outbound investment matters, and has particular expertise in tax-driven corporate transactions for European project companies. Other key contacts in the Beijing office include counsel Ronan Diot and Xi Chen, who was recently promoted to counsel. Aluminum Corporation of China is among the team's domestic clients, while international clients include well-known energy and utility companies such as Engie.

Gide Loyrette Nouel A.A.R.P.I. has a long-standing presence in the Chinese tax market where it advises multinationals, and particularly French companies on the tax aspects of a wide range of corporate transactions. Indeed, the China team often acts in conjunction with its colleagues in Paris to advise on outbound investment transactions in Africa, and inbound transactions involving French corporates. In addition to its M&A and investment work, the Beijing-based group has also advised clients including an international pharmaceutical company on the tax issues arising from a group reorganisation. Min Guo heads the firm's Beijing office and is the key figure in the tax team. The firm's domestic clients include Aluminum Corporation of China and Anhui Tianda Oil Pipe, while Renault and Agence Française de Développement are among the team's European clients.
