A partner in Gide’s Tax practice group in Paris, Magali Buchert practises in the field of French and international tax law, more particularly in transaction tax (public and private mergers and acquisitions, complex restructurings, private equity).

She also advises companies in connection with tax audits and litigations, as well as with management incentive plans. Magali has also acquired specific expertise in the taxation of non-profit organisations (endowment funds, corporate foundation).

Education

Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2005, Magali is a graduate of international business school ESSEC (2003), and holds a postgraduate degree (DESS) in business law and taxation from Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne University (2004), as well as an LL.M. from UCLA School of Law (2014).

Highlights included advising Swiss Life Asset Managers on the acquisition of a €1.7bn Paris office portfolio from Terreïs. The team is highly proficient in the context of capital markets and finance-related transactions, while also handling standalone tax advice and tax controversy cases. La pratique de Gide Loyrette Nouel A.A.R.P.I.  repose sur un large effectif et se concentre sur la fiscalité transactionnelle. L’équipe s’occupe notamment de la structuration de la grande majorité des opérations de fusions-acquisitions, de private equity et  d’investissement immobilier traitées par le cabinet. L’équipe est particulièrement recommandée pour « sa profonde connaissance des fonds investissement immobilier». Le cabinet a récemment conseillé Swiss Life AM lors de l’acquisition d’un portefeuille d’actifs portant sur des bureaux parisiens pour un montant de 1,7 milliard d’euros auprès de Terreïs. Les compétences sont également de haut niveau sur le segment des opérations de financement et de marché de capitaux. Enfin, l’équipe traite des dossiers pleinement fiscaux et notamment des dossiers contentieux. De grandes entreprises, des fonds de private equity, des investisseurs immobiliers, ainsi que des banques sont clients. Laurent ModaveMagali BuchertOlivier Dauchez et Bertrand Jouanneau  sont les principaux piliers de l’équipe. Alexandre Bochu (counsel), qui est installé à Londres, participe également à la pratique.
