The firm: Established in 1919 by Dr E Patrinos, Patrinos & Kilimiris (“P&K”) specialize in IP matters and represent numerous renowned clients both on an international and national level successfully addressing legal matters before the Greek administrative authorities, the Greek courts, EUIPO, the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).
We demonstrate a wealth of experience in multi-jurisdiction legal proceedings, collaborating and aligning with teams of international colleagues to enforce or defend our clients’ IP rights in Greece. Such experience and exchange of information with other teams allow us to actively assist in developing a strong and effective strategy to support the client in Greece, whilst overcoming any obstacles which may occasionally arise from the Greek Legal System.
In this context, P&K have had a strong influence on developing the national case law in trademark, design or patent cases, dealing with matters, with which, in many cases, there was no prior case law in Greece, thus introducing interpretation of legal provisions allowing for a congruity of the Greek case law with that of other European countries.
Areas of practice: The firm provides a full range of legal and technical services provided by experienced patent and trade mark attorneys including patent, trade mark and design counselling, filing and prosecution, copyright protection, domain name registration and disputes, customs actions, franchising, distribution and licence agreements as well as technical translations.
Furthermore the firm undertakes substantial IP litigation up to the national courts, OHIM and the CJEU.
Patrinos & Kilimiris has a strong record of successful litigation in IP infringement proceedings acting for large international and domestic companies in all areas of IP and an unparalleled experience in pharmaceutical infringement litigation having handled Greek landmark court disputes in this field. Various decisions on such disputes have now been incorporated into the country’s case law.
