Skanska invests in new wind farm in Jämtland, Sweden

August 2012

Skanska Infrastructure Development and Jämtkraft are jointly investing in a wind farm near Rätan in Berg muncipality. The total investment amounts to approximately SEK 1.2 billion. Skanska’s and Jämtkraft’s holdings amount to 50 percent each.

The environmental permit for the new wind farm, Mullbergs Windfarm, allows for the construction of 31 wind turbines in a combined generating capacity of 80 MW and a total height of 180 meters. The annual capacity of the wind farm is expected to be more than 200 GWh, which will be able to support approximately 45,000 households.

Skanska is one of the world’s leading project and construction groups, employing 53,000 employees in selected markets in Europe, in the US and Latin America. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, Skanska’s sales in 2011 totaled SEK 123 billion. Skanska Infrastructure Development, a business unit within the Group, primarily invests in public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the Nordic countries, Central Europe and Latin America.
