Bengtsson family stays on as co-owner as Nordic Capital acquires majority stake in Resurs

August 2012

Nordic Capital Fund VII has signed an agreement to acquire a 55 per cent stake in a group of four leading consumer finance and insurance firms which provide services for Sweden's retail sector: Resurs Bank, Solid Försäkringar, Reda Inkasso and Teleresurs. The sellers are the Westin, Schröder and Paulson families. The Bengtsson family will continue as a co-owner together with Nordic Capital, retaining its current 45 per cent share.

The firms will be combined into a new group offering services in consumer financing, profiled insurance solutions for the Swedish retail sector, contact centre services and debt collection. The companies had a total pro forma turnover of approximately SEK 2 billion in 2011 and the total number of employees amounted to more than 400. The acquisition is conditional on approval by the competition authorities and the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.

The Bengtsson family was advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the transaction. The firm's team was led by partner Johan Ljungberg primarily assisted by associates Emma Olnäs Fors, Pontus Danielson and Johan Holm. Lawyers from several of the firm's offices have been involved in this project, including partner Thomas Pettersson and associates Anna Engquist, Johan Frost Bergman, Urszula Sieradzka, Isabel Frensborg and Andreas Johansson.
