September 2011

The Carlyle Group and Providence Equity Partners have agreed to divest Com Hem, Sweden’s leading TV, broadband and telephony company, to BC Partners, an international private equity firm. Completion is expected in September 2011 subject to receiving EU regulatory approval.

As recently as June 2011, the company acquired Canal Digital Kabel-TV AB, a Swedish provider of cable television and IPTV services to approximately 220,000 households, from Canal Digital Sverige AB, a subsidiary of Telenor.

Carlyle is a global alternative asset manager investing across four segments – corporate private equity, real assets, global market strategies and fund-of-fund solutions. Providence Equity Partners is a leading global private equity firm specializing in equity investments in media, communications, information services and education companies.

Carlyle and Providence were advised by Mannheimer Swartling in the transaction. The firm’s team was led by Biörn Riese and Jan Holmius, primarily assisted by Christopher Arkbrant, Henrik Johansson and Richard Edström. The firm’s team also included Patrik Marcelius, Emil Boström and Jenny Keisu (public M&A and equity capital markets); Thomas Pettersson and Catharina Belfrage Sahlstrand (banking and finance).
