Professor Martuccelli advises Italian and international clients on complex litigation on civil and commercial law matters, class actions, and corporate law in both in court and arbitration proceedings. He has been appointed arbitrator in ad hoc arbitrations and institutional arbitrations. He also provides out-of-court consultancy on private law with a focus on commercial contracts, corporate acquisitions, national and international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and bankruptcy and pre-bankruptcy proceedings.


Silvio Martuccelli joined the Firm in 2008 and became a Partner in 2010.
Professor of private law at the University of Rome: LUISS Guido Carli, Faculty of Law, where he teaches European Private Law; he also teaches private law in the Business Management Department and teaches Principles of Civil Law in the Economics and Finance Faculty. He has taught Civil Law, Contract Law and Legal English in the Law Faculty of the University of Parma and Institutions of Private Law at the University of Teramo, where he was Vicar of the Faulty of Law and Director of the Department of Private Legal Sciences.
He is a Member of the Italian Civil Law Association, of the Union of Civil and Commercial Law and of the Italian Society of Civil Law Scholars, of which he was a member of the Board of Directors. 
He is the author of many monographs and essays on private law.

Graduated in Law, University of Rome, La Sapienza, 1991; LL.M., Columbia University Law School, New York, NY (USA), 1993; Ph.D, Civil Law, University of Turin, 1998. Full Professor of Private Law at the Law School of the university L.U.I.S.S. "Guido Carli" of Rome, where he teaches also European Private Law and Principles of civil law (the latter at the Business School of the same university). He has taught Civil Law, Contract Law and Legal English at the University of Parma Law School and Private Law and Agricultural Law at the University of Teramo, where he has been vice-Dean of the Law School and Director of the Private Law Department. He has been member of the Directive Council of the Italian Society of Civil Law Scholars. He is the author of monographs and articles on various private law issues.

The department at Chiomenti has good strength in depth and international capabilities in administrative, financial and corporate law and is praised for being ‘professional, efficient, dedicated and transparent in its relationship with the client’. In recent highlights, the team represented Cooperativa Muratori e Cementisti in a dispute arising from the construction of a luxury hotel in Sudan, and acted for the relative majority shareholder Vivendi in proceedings aimed at suspending a resolution made by the statutory auditors of Telecom Italia. Practice head Silvio Martuccelli, Andrea Bernava and counsel Sebastiano Zimmitti are the key contacts in the practice. Luca Ferrari was promoted to partner in January 2018. Ennio Maria Cicconi left to found his own boutique in October 2018.
