Cristoforo Osti mainly provides assistance to Italian and multinational corporations in EU and Italian Competition (Antitrust) Law, mainly before the European Commission and the Italian Competition Agency. He is also involved in EU and Italian competition litigation before the domestic civil and administrative courts as well as the EU courts. His activity, besides antitrust, involves unfair commercial practices, State aid and abuse of economic dependence. He is often involved in compliance work, leniency applications and civil litigation.


Cristoforo joined the firm as partner in 2012. Since 2018 he is the head of the Antitrust department. From 1999 to 2012 he was a partner at Clifford Chance LLP, where he was the head of the Competition Law and Regulatory Department for Italian offices. Since 1995 he held the same position with a leading Italian law firm. Full Professor of Private Comparative Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Salento, Lecce; Adjunct Professor of Competition Law at the Faculty of Economics of L.U.I.S.S. Guido Carli University, Rome.

Chiomenti consistently acts on Italian and European competition law matters, including abuses of dominant positions and cartels, and merger notifications before the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) and the European Commission (EC). It also assists with state aid proceedings and complex litigation. The practice is co-led by EU and Italian competition expert Cristoforo Osti, and Gian Michele Roberti, who routinely acts for companies, state administrations and EU institutions in proceedings. The recent work of Chiomenti‘s pharmaceutical, healthcare and life sciences practice involved the review of authorisations and licences to sell medicinal products, clinical trials of products and vaccines, and several pharmaceutical market-related procedures.
