Volker Glas is Partner at CERHA HEMPEL and specializes in corporate finance transactions. He represents issuers and underwriters in debt and equity capital markets transactions, corporate borrowers, Austrian and international banks in syndicated loans, acquisition and project financings, and structured finance transactions. In 2020 and 2021, he and his team advised CA Immobilien Anlagen AG on a successful placement of a EUR 350 million debut green bond (first real estate green bond transaction in Austria) and S IMMO AG in Austria’s first retail green bond (size: EUR 150 million), an Austrian/Brazilian refractory producer in ESG-related pricing changes and amendments of its term loan facilities, but also various SMEs in their financings, e.g. Windkraft Simonsfeld AG on its EUR 15 million self-placed ESG-bond used for the own-funds component of an EIB-financed wind park located in lower Austria.

Volker GlasCerha Hempel

Managing partner Clemens Hasenauer now solely heads the team at Cerha Hempel. His specialism in M&A and corporate law serves as a reflection of the team’s expertise in this intersection spanning a wide range of debt and equity transactions with much of its recent work falling into the DCM space. Volker Glas is a key contact for this and has recently led on a number of bond placements, including green bonds. Other regular instructions stem from financial services providers requiring assistance with the update of debt issuance programmes and with regulatory matters. The latter are typically led by Peter Knobl, while senior counsel Christian Aichinger provides wide-ranging capital markets, finance and corporate support. Edith Hlawati left the firm in February 2022 to take up a position on the management board of Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG).
