Henri qualified as a lawyer in 1989 and joined Camilleri Preziosi in that same year. He was only the second employee to join the firm at that time. Henri became Partner in 1995 and now leads the Regulatory, EU and Litigation practice group. 

Henri is responsible for and regularly advises in the areas of Corporate & Commercial law, Litigation, Competition, Public Procurement, Telecommunications, Media & Technology, Intellectual Property, Infrastructure, Energy & Resources and Transport law. He handles major litigation and regularly advises on company acquisitions and group restructurings. Henri also advises government and private entities on major projects. He acts as outside counsel to a number of major local groups where he combines his knowledge of law with his business experience in order to provide comprehensive advice across many different industries.

Henri acts as examiner for law students submitting their thesis in the final year of the LL.D. course at the University of Malta.

Henri Mizzi and Marisa Vella are key names in Camilleri Preziosi’s ‘top-notch’ and ‘stand-out’ dispute resolution practice. Vella led on a number of cases involving breaches of fiduciary duties and contractual disputes, and Mizzi handled matters such as shareholder disputes and licensing rights issues. The team earns ‘full praise’ for its work on contentious matters, which currently includes representing Motherwell Bridge Malta Limited in a damages action against a former employee for allegedly engaging in fraudulent activity. Senior associate Kristina Rapa Manché is also noted for her expertise in representing private and public sector clients in civil, commercial, EU and public law claims. Other clients include Bank of Valletta, Mekanika and Dragonara Gaming.

Intellectual property

Henri Mizzi, who leads Camilleri Preziosi’s IP department, has ‘extensive knowledge and a sharp understanding of commercial matters’. IP disputes are a strong point of the practice; Mizzi is representing an investment services firm before the European Intellectual Property Office in opposition proceedings against an international bank over conflicting European trade marks. The firm also represented claimant AWS Malta in a domain name and trade mark dispute involving a former employee of the company, and is defending DMD Autoparts against a claim that it breached trade mark rights in relation to Hyundai and Kia spare parts. The ‘meticulous and articulate’ Sharon Xuereb is recommended for privacy-related matters. The group also advises on licensing, contract negotiation and royalty securitisation.

Real estate

Camilleri Preziosi handles major high-rise, hotel and multiplex construction projects. Its notable recent mandates include assisting Plaza Centres with a shopping mall conversion, and advising Peninsula Investments on the Westin Dragonara Resort expansion. The firm is also handling the legal aspects of a hotel and an adjacent mixed-use project development. Further mandates include advising on real estate acquisitions and disposals, leasing arrangements and contract disputes. Henri Mizzi and Marisa Vella lead the practice. Senior associate Rya Gatt is recommended for her construction and development, energy and environmental law credentials.

Henri Mizzi and newly promoted partner Steven Decesare lead Camilleri Preziosi’s shipping practice, which has recently been involved in maritime disputes and ship finance transactions. Decesare has assisted a number of international clients with ship arrest matters. Mizzi is representing a defendant in a salvage dispute. The firm also advises on yacht acquisitions, leasing schemes and all other yachting-specific issues.
