Career

Julien Lecat has held various positions over the years as corporate lawyer and risk manager in large international groups such as Schlumberger and Gemplus. Before joining BIGNON LEBRAY, Julien Lecat was the legal director of the operations department for the Gemalto group, a leader in digital security and smart card solutions.

Julien has also been a judge with the commercial court of Marseille since 2005, and chairs the 12th Chamber of this court, which is specifically in charge of maritime and transport litigations as well as anticompetitive practices.

At BIGNON LEBRAY, he advises French and foreign clients in the following areas:

  • The drafting of commercial contracts,
  • Transactional and contentious corporate law matters,
  • Maritime law and land as well as air transport,
  • Transactional and contentious matters relating to anticompetitive practices (cartels, abuse of dominant position) and restrictive practices (exclusive distribution, a sudden breach of established relationships).

Data protection, e-commerce and IT law all fall within Bignon Lebray‘s areas of expertise. Practice head Benjamin Mourot is currently advising a chemical manufacturer on all contractual negotiations and drafting in connection with the implementation of new IT infrastructure, while from the Aix-en-Provence office Julien Lecat is representing an online payment solution provider in a dispute arising from a security breach. The group also provides ongoing advice on GDPR compliance. Elise Dufour was promoted to the partnership in January 2019. Nicolas Moreau  was a new arrival from Brunswick La Morinerie.

Benjamin Mourot, qui est à la tête de la pratique, a conseillé un fabricant de produits chimiques s’agissant de la rédaction et de la négociation contractuelle concernant une nouvelle infrastructure informatique. Julien Lecat, qui est membre du bureau d’Aix-en-Provence, représente un prestataire de solutions de paiement en ligne dans le cadre d’un litige lié à l’avènement d’une faille de sécurité. Le cabinet conseille aussi ses clients sur leurs problématiques RGDP. Enfin, Elise Dufour a été promue associé, quand l’arrivée de Nicolas Moreau, en provenance du cabinet Brunswick La Morinerie, permet à l’équipe de renforcer ses compétences, notamment en matière de propriété intellectuelle.
