Managing Partner. Simon Evers Kalsmose-Hjelmborg is Bech-Bruun’s managing partner and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm. He has many years of strategic and hands-on management experience from his position as head of Bech-Bruun’s EU & Competition Law practice group. Simon Evers Kalsmose-Hjelmborg has extensive experience with notifications to the European Commission and Danish Competition and Consumer Authority under the FEU Treaty, the Merger Control Regulation and the Danish Competition Act. He also advises clients on the content of compliance programmes, general EU law issues, the preparation of tender material, the implementation of public procurement processes for public bodies and the submission of bids according to procurement procedures. Furthermore, Simon acts in competition and procurement cases before the EU and Danish courts as well as before the Danish competition and procurement authorities and bodies. Simon is, in addition, an experienced external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University.

Bech-Bruun handles competition and procurement matters for a client roster which includes Procter & Gamble and the City of Copehagen. Practice head Peter Stig Jakobsen focuses on competition, procurement and state aid law; he recently acted for Daugaard Biler in a dispute against Nissan Nordic Europe concerning its selective distribution system. Other recent highlights include public procurement specialist Anne Bergholt Sommer advising Boeing on the provision of supplies to the Danish Defence following a procurement process, Jesper Kaltoft assisting CPH City & Port Development with its tender procedure for a major urban development project, and public sector expert Anders Birkelund Nielsen  acting for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark on its procurement procedures. Managing partner Simon Evers Kalsmose-Hjelmborg is also active in the competition space; Kalsmose-Hjelmborg advised MTG on the competition aspects of its merger with TDC, and the firm assisted Nokas with its involvement in a dispute filed against competitor Loomis by its customers relating to cash handling and transportation services.
