Career

Miguel is a partner and co-head of the Tax practice and the head of PLMJ’s Porto office.
He has over 30 years’ experience covering all direct taxes, in particular corporate income tax, but also VAT and stamp duty. Miguel has extensive experience in advising on mergers and acquisitions, demergers and other forms of corporate restructuring and reorganisation. He also advises on capital markets and private equity transactions, and handles debt or equity financing, structured finance operations, securitisation and other types of financing. Miguel also has solid experience in advising on tax litigation cases and in resolving them by administrative, arbitral or judicial means.
He is an arbitrator at the Administrative Arbitration Centre (CAAD) and a member of several tax associations, including the Portuguese Fiscal Association (AFP) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
Miguel regularly writes articles on important tax issues and speaks at conferences on the same matters.
