Caroline is co-chair of our Aviation Group and a senior partner in our Tax Group.
Caroline has extensive experience in advising both domestic and international companies on structuring their tax affairs for various types of transactions including establishing operations in Ireland, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property structures, reorganisations and restructurings. She is particularly experienced in advising clients on all financial services transactions including loan portfolio transactions, securitisations, bond issues, and aircraft and equipment leasing. Caroline is also very experienced in navigating a path through tax disputes and tax litigation for clients. Caroline leads the firm’s Asia-Pacific Group.

Arthur Cox has extensive international aviation finance expertise within its senior ranks and strong tax experience within the team. Rob Murphy has exceptional international experience, a former global head of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP‘s asset finance team and previously general counsel at CDB Aviation, the Chinese aircraft lessor. Caroline Devlin brings leading tax expertise to the aviation finance field with a strong focus on Asian clients and US private equity houses. Laura Cunningham is another with impressive international experience and an emphasis on aircraft finance, leasing and related tax-driven structures. Ruth Lillis‘ recent work has seen her advise on restructurings arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Arthur Cox has a large and fully-rounded tax practice featuring a number of highly-respected senior practitioners. This includes partners Fintan Clancy and Caroline Devlin, both of whom continue to impress in corporate tax and M&A-related matters, along with securitisations and tax disputes. The impressive team is at the forefront of corporate tax, financial services transactions, intellectual property structuring, real estate and private equity investments, and tax disputes. The group has worked on a series of major cross-border M&A transactions, corporate redomiciliation and migration matters, and remains a leader in the tax aspects of CLOs and other structured finance/securitisation deals. Arthur Cox‘s broad transport practice covers matters across the road, rail and aviation sectors, including advising clients on issues at the cutting edge of this area of law. The team is highly active in the asset finance space, with Caroline Devlin, Rob Murphy and Laura Cunningham advising on the financing of aircraft as well as the establishment of leasing platforms and funds. Ruth Lillis was promoted to partner in January 2021 and also focuses on the aviation sector. Beyond financings, the practice acts for transport services companies, airlines and vehicle manufacturers on a range of corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, and also handles the development of transport infrastructure.
