Matt Hervey is senior associate GC at US tech company Cloudflare. He has advised governments, inter-governmental entities and household name clients across all sectors, including automotive, life sciences, finance, energy, media, fashion and retail.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u00a0joined Cloudflare in 2026 when it\u00a0purchased\u00a0Human Native,\u00a0where he was head of legal and policy. He\u00a0now\u00a0works across Cloudflare’s AI-related projects, with a particular focus on the ecosystem to increase content owners’ choices,\u00a0control\u00a0and compensation in the AI era.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At\u00a0Human Native\u00a0he\u00a0worked on licensing frameworks with major content providers and AI companies and was extensively involved in UK Government policy discussions on AI and\u00a0copyright.\u00a0He is also the former head of AI law at Gowling WLG.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacob Turner, b<\/span><\/b>arrister, Fountain Court<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Jacob is a barrister specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on data and AI. He is the author of a widely cited book \u2018Robot Rules: Regulating Artificial Intelligence\u2019 and has acted in several groundbreaking disputes in that field. His recent AI work includes acting in the \u2018AI Inventor\u2019 case, in which the Supreme Court considered whether an invention devised by an AI program can be registered as a patent. Jacob was instructed by a group of banks in a (now settled) multibillion-dollar case where the claimants had sought, for the first time in a civil claim, to rely on evidence generated by AI. Jacob acted in a claim brought by Uber and Ola Cabs drivers, successfully challenging the use of algorithmic decision-making to fine the drivers and terminate their contracts. As sole counsel Jacob also successfully defended the first company to be investigated by the ICO for alleged algorithmic bias.<\/span><\/p>\n

Simon McDougall<\/span><\/b>, c<\/strong>hief strategist, privacy & AI, ZoomInfo<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Simon McDougall is the Chief Strategist for Privacy and AI at ZoomInfo, where he brings over 20 years of experience in data privacy and risk management. Based in the UK, Simon advises the company and its customers on regulatory compliance, risk management, and government relations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He is also an International Fellow at Yale\u2019s Digital Ethics\u00a0Center, and a member of the Board of Directors for the International Association of Privacy Professionals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to joining ZoomInfo, Simon served as Deputy Commissioner at the Information Commissioner\u2019s Office (ICO), the UK’s independent authority for information rights. There, he\u00a0established\u00a0new technology\u00a0policy and innovation functions, led work in areas such as artificial intelligence and\u00a0adtech, and guided the ICO’s response to data use during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simon has also led privacy consulting practices at Promontory, an IBM company, and Deloitte,\u00a0assisting\u00a0clients across Europe, the U.S., and Asia. He holds a B.A. (Honors) in English Literature from Somerville College, University of Oxford, and is a Chartered Accountant.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outside of work, Simon enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage sons at their home in St. Albans, England. He is an avid chess player, a runner, and a dedicated supporter of Tottenham Hotspur.<\/span><\/p>\n

Matt is Chief Legal Officer at global content producer Fremantle. Fremantle produces over 12,000 hours of original programming every year across drama, entertainment, documentaries and film, including movies such as the Oscar nominated Bugonia, shows like Got Talent and The Apprentice and documentaries series like All or Nothing. He joined Fremantle in August 2022, and sits on the global board. Outside of Legal, Matt is also responsible at Fremantle for AI & Tech, Sustainability and Risk and Compliance. Prior to Fremantle, Matt was based in Amsterdam as General Counsel for EMEA & APAC for Uber, leading a diverse, international team who helped Uber Rides to scale, launch Uber Eats and JUMP bikes (now Lime) and stabilise and grow the business across over 50 countries, culminating in a successful listing on the NYSE in 2019. Matt started his career with four years at Baker & McKenzie, followed by an overall six-year stint in senior roles for global telco Telef\u00f3nica with a spell at Arsenal Football Club in the middle.
