The afternoon covered cyber security, M&amp;A, enterprise risk, geopolitical developments, disputes and the legal implications of the region\u2019s green transition.<\/p>\n<p>Dalvin Kaur, Head of Legal, Group Global Banking at Maybank, delivered the keynote address. She reflected on the expanding strategic role of General Counsel in Malaysia, particularly in helping businesses manage regulatory change, geopolitical uncertainty and an increasingly complex regional environment.<\/p>\n<p>The first panel, in association with HHQ, explored cyber security, data protection and compliance. Speakers discussed evolving privacy frameworks and cyber risks, and shared practical ways organisations can strengthen compliance and resilience while supporting digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>The second session, in association with Zaid Ibrahim &amp; Co, focused on M&amp;A trends across ASEAN. Panellists examined the impact of geopolitical uncertainty, regulatory complexity and tighter liquidity on deal-making, alongside the growing use of warranty and indemnity insurance and new tools shaping execution.<\/p>\n<p>The third panel, in association with RDS Partnership, examined the role of General Counsel in enterprise risk management. Speakers discussed taking a more joined-up view of risk across governance, projects, workforce issues and tax, and the importance of better alignment between legal functions and the wider organisation.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth session, in association with TSF Law, explored geopolitical tensions, trade disruption and shifting supply chains. Panellists examined sanctions, cross-border restrictions and contractual risk, and shared practical approaches to strengthening commercial arrangements in an uncertain environment.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth panel, in association with Juen, Jeat, Nic &amp; Nair, considered the realities of managing high-stakes disputes. Speakers discussed early strategy, litigation and arbitration, settlement considerations, reputational risk and enforcement, and how matters are handled once they reach board level.<\/p>\n<p>The final panel, in association with Rahmat Lim &amp; Partners, examined Malaysia&#8217;s transition to a lower-carbon economy.
