With a scorching hot\u00a0early July day in Manila\u00a0as the setting, The Legal 500\u00a0journeyed to the fabulous Rainmaker Lounge at\u00a0the penthouse of\u00a0Villaraza &\u00a0Angangco\u2019s\u00a0V&A Law Centre\u00a0to host\u00a0and\u00a0congratulate the leading lights of\u00a0the in-house legal community of the Philippines\u00a0as part of the first-ever\u00a0Philippines GC\u00a0Powerlist.\u00a0The room\u00a0was\u00a0packed\u00a0to\u00a0capacity\u00a0with GCs, chief legal\u00a0officers\u00a0and legal heads,\u00a0the culmination of a research\u00a0and invitation\u00a0process that\u00a0took our research team\u00a0many months\u00a0to complete.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The lounge\u00a0had an electric atmosphere as old friends and classmates caught up with each other and new connections were made, and after some bubbles and hors d’oeuvres the guests settled in for the ceremony.\u00a0Opening remarks\u00a0and\u00a0well-wishes\u00a0from The Legal 500\u2019s GC\u00a0Powerlist\u00a0editor Joe Boswell\u00a0were followed by a rousing\u00a0congratulatory speech from V&A\u2019s managing partner Sylvette\u00a0Tankiang\u00a0who spoke of the great achievements those in the room had made to be a part of the ceremony.\u00a0GC keynote speaker Maricor Adriano of\u00a0GCash\u00a0took the podium next, speaking about the unique role in-house lawyers play for their\u00a0organisations\u00a0and relating some of the key episodes in her career that had made her into the lawyer and businessperson she is today.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
