Law firm Weightmans has reported record revenue of\u00a0\u00a3145 million\u00a0for the financial year ending March 31, 2025 – a\u00a03.4% increase\u00a0on the previous year, representing four years of consecutive growth, and building on its record-breaking results in 2023\/24.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The firm also delivered net profit of \u00a315m \u2013 the second highest annual total in its history, reflecting another year of sustained, strategic growth.<\/p>\n

The year also marked a significant leadership transition, with Sarah Walton succeeding John Schorah as Managing Partner in April 2025. Her appointment – the firm\u2019s first female managing partner – was complemented by the arrival of former Legal & General Managing Partner, Duncan Finch as a Non-Executive Director, ensuring both continuity and fresh strategic insight at the top.<\/p>\n

Several practice areas delivered standout performances. The\u00a0Claims Division\u00a0(Insurance and Healthcare) and\u00a0Regulatory\u00a0teams exceeded gross profit targets. Private Wealth\u00a0emerged as a key driver of both revenue and profit growth. And HR Rely, the firm\u2019s fixed-fee outsourced HR and employment law service, surpassed all revenue, sales, and profit targets, delivering exceptional value to clients.<\/p>\n

International expansion was another highlight. Weightmans\u2019 award-winning cyber consultancy,\u00a0CyXcel, launched operations in\u00a0North America. This was in addition to\u00a0\u00a310 million of international revenue generated in legal advice, reinforcing the firm\u2019s global reach and reputation.<\/p>\n

The firm also welcomed 21 lateral hire partners, which, together with internal promotions, brings the partnership total to\u00a0267 and it had its\u00a0largest-ever trainee and apprentice cohort, with\u00a087 new joiners.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Weightmans was recognised as a\u00a0Top Employer for the 18th consecutive year, achieving a\u00a0top five national ranking, and appointed its first\u00a0Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Liliana Corrieri.<\/p>\n

The firm\u2019s purpose-led marketing campaign,\u00a0\u2018See the Possibility\u2019, won\u00a0two Gold Drum Awards, while its ESG credentials were further validated by being ranked\u00a0second-best\u00a0among the UK\u2019s 75 largest law firms for greenhouse gas emissions by\u00a0The Lawyer; being awarded\u00a0Platinum status\u00a0by EcoVadis, placing it in the\u00a0top 1% globally\u00a0for sustainability performance; and featuring in\u00a0The Legal 500 UK Green Guide\u00a0for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n

In another development, today (September 1),\u00a0Weightmans announced the opening of a new office in Nottingham, further strengthening its presence in the Midlands and underlining its commitment to growth, innovation and regional investment.<\/p>\n

This strategic move is a step forward in Weightmans\u2019 ambition to expand its market share across priority sectors \u2013 notably Health and Public Bodies, as well as services tailored to Owner Managed Businesses and Private Clients.<\/p>\n

Alongside this, Weightmans confirms the arrival of two highly respected Nottingham-based partners – corporate lawyers Freya Summers and Mallory Coxe. Both ex-Wright Hassall partners, Freya and\u00a0Mallory<\/a>\u00a0are recognised experts in their field, and their addition marks a key step in the firm\u2019s ambitions to expand its corporate practice in the Midlands and nationally.<\/p>\n

The Nottingham office will act as a strategic regional hub, complementing Weightmans\u2019 established presence in Birmingham and Leicester. This expansion strengthens the firm\u2019s geographical footprint across the Midlands, unlocks access to vibrant local talent pools, and reinforces the firm\u2019s position as one of the region\u2019s leading law firms.<\/p>\n
