On 16 November 2017, VEGAS LEX law firm jointly with Pravo.ru hosted a webinar, which was devoted to overview of the requirements, problems and responsibilities for violations in the area of processing of personal data in the Russian Federation.

On 16 November 2017, Vyacheslav Chmykhov, an associate of VEGAS LEX’s Commercial practice, hosted a webinar on the topic “Personal data: practice, problems and recommendations”.

Vyacheslav provided a brief overview of the development of legal regulation of the processing of personal data (PD) in the Russian Federation, and statistics of violations in the area of PD, and overview of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union as well as told about the key aspects related to blocking of social media, loss of databases and use of Big Data by companies within the framework of their activities. The expert analysed the responsibilities for violations in the area of processing of PD and gave recommendations on its minimization as well as recommendations on cooperation with Roscomnadzor in the course of its inspection of companies in terms of observance by them of the rights of the PD owners.
