We are very proud of announcing that Mert Karamustafaoglu
has been promoted as Partner and Competition & Compliance Leader, as of
January 1, 2019.
Mert Karamustafaoglu graduated from Istanbul
University Faculty of Law in 1999. Following his graduation, he received his LL.M
from Free University of Berlin. He worked at the Turkish Competition Authority
as Assistant Competition Expert from 2001-2005 and later as Competition Expert
until his appointment as Chief Competition Expert in 2011 where he held this
position until 2016. Mert Karamustafaoglu worked extensively on energy and
electricity market transactions as well as
leading investigations of ceramics and cement, M&As in
pharmaceuticals and film and entertainment industry. He was part of the team
reviewing privatizations of Eti Holding, TÜPRAŞ and several natural gas
distribution companies. Moreover he took active part in drafting secondary
legislation by the Competition Authority and participated as a contributor in
training sessions.
After his 15 year experience in Competition Board, he joined
Erdem & Erdem in 2016 as Competition and Compliance Expert. He works
specifically in the competition compliance programs, mergers and acquisitions,
joint ventures, privatizations, investigations within the scope of competition
law and competition law practices in the energy sector.
Mert Karamustafaoglu delivered presentations in
various academic conferences on competition law. He is currently studying for
his Ph.D at Free University of Berlin.
