at the Blockchain and Digital Currencies event, held at the University of
Nicosia and organized by the Decentralized Nicosia Chapter on 23rd
of January, 2019.
Dr. Charalambos Savvides, Mr Menelaos Kesisoglou and Mrs Xenia
Kalogirou, members of BL ADVISORY INTERNATIONAL, presented the
following topics:
1. ICOs vs Traditional
Crowdfunding: Different types of tokens, differentiation and utilization.
2. The Regulatory
verdict on Crypto-Assets: Presentation and open Discussion over recent
reports from EBA and ESMA issued on 9 January 2019 as a response to the
European Commission’s 2018 FinTech action plan request for the European
Supervisory Authorities to assess the suitability and applicability of the
current EU regulatory framework to crypto-assets.
The importance and
imminence of the potential benefits of the distributed
ledger technology and tokenisation and the speed and efficiency of funding
from a diverse investor base via Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) attracted a significant number of participants, foreign and local,
mostly professionals involved in FinTech sector.
