GOLAW Managing Partner, attorney at law, Valentyn Gvozdiy elected as the Head of the Supervisory Board at Ukrhydroenergo PJSC.

“Comprehensive understanding of the subject is a must for the efficient lawyer’s practice. I believe that my working experience in large energy projects will be useful in my new position and bring value to the government agency. I am planning to focus on the development of the company’s corporate governance, compliance policies, and risks management” Valentyn Gvozdiy said.

The lawyer also emphasized that the new position will not affect his law practice.
“The new position is a chance to make my contribution to the improvement of governmental company functioning; however, it should be considered as a complementary public activity to my main job. My work at GOLAW and the Clients I am working with is still my priority”, Gvozdiy added.

The other independent members of the Supervisory Board include: Steve Walsh, the Ex-Head of AES Ukraine, current Managing Director at Traxys S.A., Nataliya Mykolska, former Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, and Oleg Terletsky who worked at the ‘Naftogaz of Ukraine’ NJSC, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, State Concern ‘Ukrtorf’ and “UKRNAFTA” PJSC.

The Supervisor Board also includes representatives of the Ukrainian government: Vasyl Shkurakov, Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Oleg Buslavets, Head of Directorate of Energy Markets at the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, and Victoriya Kalnichenko, Head of Corporate and Property Relations Department at Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.

The corresponding decree #544-P, as of July 17, 2019, is published on the government website.

The search for independent members is based on an open and transparent selection process. There were 56 applications for four positions in total.
