Messrs Adnan Sundra & Low (“ASL”) and Messrs Khem Thadani (“KT”) are delighted to jointly announce the merger of both law firms with effect from 1 October 2018. This is the second merger announcement this August 2018 in relation to ASL, following the joint media statement dated 8 August 2018 announcing the merger between ASL and boutique law firm Messrs Putri Norlisa Chair.

This joining of forces under the name, “Adnan Sundra & Low”, involves the integration of KT’s five lawyer specialist Projects team, inclusive of its founding partner, into ASL’s existing Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Civil Aviation, Corporate and M&A, Dispute Resolution, Islamic Finance, Projects & Infrastructure and Real Estate practice, which is expected to further drive the newly combined firm’s growth prospects. It will also result in the increase of ASL’s present complement of 22 partners to 26 partners by 1 October 2018, and the incorporation of KT’s boutique infrastructure project practice, which encompasses acting for sponsors/developers, main contractors and corporate advisory experience into the newly combined firm, thus expanding its present client offerings and skillsets.

This merger represents yet another exciting development for lawyers, staff, and clients, present as well as future, at the newly combined firm and upon completion, will result in ASL being represented by a combined team of nearly 100 lawyers, eventually to be housed together in one office in Kuala Lumpur.

ASL, winner of the Malaysia Law Firm Of The Year Award at the Asian Legal Business Malaysia Law Awards 2016 and the IFLR Asia Awards 2014 and 2007 respectively, is an established 43-year old law firm in Malaysia. KT is a boutique law firm founded in 1996 which is heavily focused on the practice area of projects and infrastructure. KT has advised on a broad range of projects and concessions inclusive of power, oil and gas, light rail systems, cement plants, mining, dredging, water, highways, airports, telecommunications, information technology, integrated commercial development and manufacturing projects.

Moving forward, ASL and KT wish to jointly confirm that there will be no disruption to legal services provided to clients by either firm in the transition period pending the effective date of the merger.
