The VEGAS LEX law firm is a partner of the Second
Annual Online Student Arbitration Competition organized by the Russian
Arbitration Association (RAA) with support of the Higher School of Economics*.

Head of Litigation practice Victor
Petrov
will judge the competition as an arbiter.

This year, the competition, that is the largest student arbitration competition in
the CIS, will bring together 44 teams from more than 20 cities of Russia and the
republic of Belarus.

Following a mid-March draw procedure, the teams were split
into plaintiffs and defendants for the preliminary rounds, which will be held
through videoconferencing**.

Until April 16, 2017, the teams will prepare written
reviews of their opponents’ claims. The preliminary rounds will be held from
April 20 until April 30, 2017. Based on these procedural documents, the
plaintiffs and defendants will verbally defend their positions before the arbiters
online.

As a result of the preliminary rounds, the best teams
will be qualified for the quarterfinal, semifinal and then compete in the final
rounds in Moscow on August 25–27, 2017. The best speakers will have an
opportunity to do an internship in Russia’s leading law firms.

On August 25, 2017, on the eve of the hearings, the
RAA will organize a conference for the contest participants, arbiters, and international
arbitration experts.
