Çakmak Avukatlık Ortaklığı advises on the full range of energy-related matters including project financing, corporate matters and administrative litigation. It has experience in various sub-sectors including thermal power plants, coal mine and electricity power plant projects, oil and gas, combined cycle gas turbine projects, and wind power plants. A highlight was advising ERG Verbund on the development, rehabilitation, financing, construction and operation of its $2bn thermal power project. Other clients include Fina Enerji, Çelikler and Akenerji. Zeynep Çakmak, who returned to the firm from GKC Partners, now heads the team alongside Cem Çağatay Orak. Goksu Safi Isik Attorney Partnership is experienced in representing clients in all sub-sectors of energy including nuclear, solar, wind and thermal. It advised the Kalyon-Hanwha consortium on its successful $6bn bid for a solar power plant project under the renewable energy resource area (RERA) legislation. Recent highlights include advising Akkuyu NGS Elektrik Üretim on licensing matters and obtaining site and construction permits in relation to its $22bn nuclear power plant located in Mersin. Çigdemtekin Dora Cakirca Aranci Law Firm handles M&A, privatisations, project development, financing, commodities trading, licensing and litigation. It is ’highly experienced on the lender side of transactions’ and combines ‘a project-oriented approach with collaborative know-how to understand the intricate dynamics of energy projects’. Güniz Gökçe heads the team, which features ‘highly skilled individuals with backgrounds in varying industries and legal practices’. Zeynep Çakmak departed to Çakmak Avukatlık Ortaklığı in February 2018.

Hergüner Bilgen Özeke advises on project finance and the banking and M&A side of the energy market. Other areas of expertise include cross-border transactions and regulatory advice in the nuclear, oil and gas, mining, natural gas and electricity sectors. In a recent highlight it advised Akbank on the drafting of loan agreements and preparation of a Turkish law security document package in relation to a €30m solar energy plant financing. Other clients include Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline Company and South Stream Transport. Ümit Hergüner and Deniz Tuncel head the team.

Kolcuoglu Demirkan Koçakli acts for clients in the electricity, natural gas, petroleum, LPG, renewable and nuclear energy industries. Areas of expertise include oil import, wholesale, storage and export activities, greenfield investments, regulatory advice, licensing and permitting matters. Erdem & Erdem Law Office advises clients in the natural gas, coal, and oil-fired power plants and renewables sectors. Areas of expertise include structuring and negotiation of transactions and projects, negotiation and drafting of EPCs, project financing, privatisation and PPPs.
