Mannheimer Swartling is highly regarded in the Swedish market and is recognised for its strength in M&A work and commercial matters; Eva Hägg leads the public M&A team, Adam Green heads up the private M&A group and Martin Pekkari is global head of the corporate commercial department. Highlights include assisting Bridgepoints with the sale of its shares in Trustly to Nordic Capital, and advising Spotify on its mutual equity investment deal with Chinese Tencent's music unit. On the commercial side, the team provided advice to the Swedish state on agreements made with numerous regions and municipalities regarding its investment in the establishment of a new high-speed railway connecting Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. Jan Holmius is also recommended. Henrik Johansson left for an in-house position at Nordic Capital.

Advokatfirman Cederquist KB fields a team of 'deeply experienced and competent' lawyers, which advises clients on cross-border transactional and commercial matters and regularly works with other departments in the firm. The 'proactive and collaborative' Lars Bärnheim and practice head Carl-Johan Deuschl assisted Mars Petcare with its acquisition of shares in Anicura from Cidron Rock, Fidelio and other minority sellers; and the 'solution-focused' Maja Wettergren advised Axel Johnson on its acquisition of a majority stake in Skincity from its founders and venture capital investors. Martin Ulfson is also a noteworthy practitioner.

The department at Gernandt & Danielsson Advokatbyrå fields an 'experienced team with highly skilled members, who all have defined areas of responsibility'. The group is experienced in the banking and finance, gambling and food retail sectors, and handles corporate and regulatory compliance matters. Mats Hugoson advised Nordea on its agreement with DNB to combine their operations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to create an independent financial services provider in the Baltics. Hugoson jointly leads the team with Bob Johanson, Tobias Larsson and Carl Westerberg; Johan Josjö and Fredrik Palm are other key contacts. Dick Lundqvist moved in-house at Wallenberg Foundations.

Linklaters focuses on high-end M&A work and leverages the firm's international network to handle cross-border transactions. Practice head Fredrik Lindqvist is highly regarded in the market; he advised Cevian Capital on the sale of its stake in the Volvo Group to Chinese car group Geely, and assisted Com Hem with its merger with Tele2. Elisabeth Lundgren advises on regulatory issues and managing associate Rasmus Kindlund is another name to note.

Setterwalls provides a 'uniquely high level of service, expertise and response time' and is experienced in the life sciences, technology, automotive, energy and finance sectors. The 'reliable and accessible' team assisted Altigi with its acquisition by Stillfront Group; other clients include Aquila Capital, Skanska and FSN Capital. The practice is jointly led by Anders Söderlind, Anders Holmgren and Ola Grahn in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö respectively; Johan Hallén is singled out as an 'outstanding negotiator, who is always taking the business and acumen of his client into consideration' and Matthias Detterfelt is 'an exceptionally good lawyer'.

White & Case Advokat AB's M&A group focuses on the private equity market and was bolstered by the arrival of private equity specialists Jan Jensen and Shoan Panahi from Hannes Snellman. Recent highlights include Johan Steen and Darragh Byrne advising Nomura International and Barclay Capital Securities on their acquisition of Cevian's stake in the Volvo Group and the subsequent sale of the shares to Geely; and Jensen assisting EQT with its acquisition of a majority stake in Candidator from investment firm Sobro. Carl Hugo Parment is an expert in finance-related issues and Henrik Wireklint was promoted to partner in 2018.

Clients single out Baker McKenzie for its ability to be 'very skillful and easily understand the scope of a matter, including what limitations to consider'. The practice handles notable work in the pharmaceutical, retail, energy and transportation sectors and benefits from the firm's international network. Anders Fast advised Cubera Private Equity on its acquisition of shares in Anticimex from EQT; other clients include Nordic Capital and FSN Capital. Costin Mihailescu leads the practice group, and Carl Svernlöv and Anna Orlander are also names to note; Orlander recently handled multiple transactions for THQ Nordic.

Advokatfirman Delphi is well versed in advising clients on transactions in the TMT, gaming, energy and healthcare sectors. Recent mandates include Michael Juhlin advising Adelis Equity Partners on its acquisition of software developer Hantverksdata, Juhlin and managing partner David Aversten assisting Verdane with its divestment of EasyPark and its subsidiaries to private equity fund Vitruvian, and Fredrik Mörner acting as Swedish counsel to Owens Corning on its acquisition of Parry 1 Holding from CVC Capital Partners.

DLA Piper¬†leverages its presence across the Nordic countries to handle cross-border mandates for a variety of corporates and private equity firms. Recent highlights include advising Stillffront on its ‚ā¨270m acquisition of Altigi, and practice head¬†Anders Malmstr√∂m¬†and¬†Petter Kj√∂llerstr√∂m¬†assisting Tannerg√•rden and the other minority sellers with the sale of Eitech to Vinci Energies.¬†Mathias Berggren¬†leads the private equity group and has experience in cross-border transactions;¬†Mats Jansson¬†and¬†Peder Grandinsson¬†are other noteworthy practitioners.

Hamilton Advokatbyr√•¬†is praised for its 'exceptional negotiation skills' and 'strong client focus'. The increasingly active practice is led¬†by¬†Fredrik Hag¬†and counts¬†Pontus Bergsten, who gives 'solid advice both from a legal and commercial perspective' as a key practitioner; Bergsten recently advised MTG on its¬†‚ā¨115m auction sale of Baltic TV and radio assets. Naspers,¬†AAC Capital Partners and Ceder Capital are also clients. Other names to note include¬†'competent and down-to-earth'¬†Jon Ericson¬†and 'dedicated and hardworking' senior associate¬†Joachim Funariu.¬†Erica Hegerin¬†was promoted to the partnership in 2018.

The M&A team at Hammarskiöld & Co AB has experience handling domestic and cross-border transactions and provides its clients with 'high-quality advice and excellent service levels'. Erik Löfwall and Jakob Falkman advised Altor Fund IV on its acquisition of BTI Studios from Carlyle; the department also handled multiple matters for Euroapotheca. Peder Hammarskiöld leads the practice, Magnus Bohman re-joined the group from an in-house position at PwC and Erik Fahlgren is praised for being 'very dedicated, hardworking, and an intelligent drafter'.

Hannes Snellman fields specialists in private and public M&A, corporate advice and equity capital markets, and regularly takes a cross-departmental approach to matters, working closely with the banking and finance, employment and IP groups. Claes Kjellberg advised Max Hansson, the founder of PayEx, on its sale to Swedbank; other clients include EQT and Fazer Group. Richard Åkerman heads up the private M&A practice, while Mattias Friberg leads the corporate, public M&A, and equity capital markets team; Friberg joined in 2018 from Roschier. Sören Lindström is also a key name to note.

Wistrand is experienced in the media, IT, automotive, life sciences and leisure sectors, where it counts national and international companies as clients, focusing on mid-market deals; Magnus Forssman is also noted for his warranty and indemnity insurance expertise. Gothenburg practice head Per Dalemo assisted OpenSolution Nordic with its acquisition of Konsulent Data & Restaurant, and Stockholm team head Robert Kullgren advised Tacton Systems on its acquisition by GRO Capital and Kirk Kapital. Johannes Wårdman made partner in 2018.

AG Advokat¬†fields a team of lawyers, which 'has excellent knowledge of the relevant law and delivers high-quality work' with notable expertise in manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements. The team is led by the 'dedicated and solid'¬†Christian Hybbinette, who has significant expertise in commercial work; he drafted a master supply contract for Scania for the supply and installation of industrial equipment and also advised¬†Sandvik on Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology's sales contracts. Senior associate¬†Eric √Ėdling¬†and associate¬†Fredrik Sandstr√∂m¬†are also noteworthy practitioners.

Clients praise Bird & Bird for its 'knowledge and competence in various legal areas as well as its pragmatic approach'. The practice covers a broad range of M&A and commercial matters including joint ventures, private equity buy outs, M&A insurance work and capital markets projects, and is strong in the technology sector. Hans Svensson leads the corporate group in Sweden and acted for Avalanche Studios on its acquisition by Nordisk film, Jörgen Ekström heads up the commercial team, and managing partner Mårten Willamo leads the Nordic corporate group. Jan Byström joined the firm in 2018 from the now-defunct Byström Rooth & Partners Advokater KB.

The team at Cirio Advokatbyrå AB handles a variety of transactional work including acquisitions, joint ventures, reorganisations and corporate finance mandates. Peter Lilja is the head of the M&A group, which also includes Erik Bergenstråhle, Anders Moberg and Peter Högström; all team members were previously at Advokatfirman Lindahl KB.

Advokatfirman Lindahl KB's Mårten Steen advised life sciences company Cavidi on a $11.5m investment by private equity fund Impilo. Other team members include Johan Herrström and Olof Thorsell, who are based in Malmö and Gothenburg respectively. Peter Lilja, Erik Bergenstråhle and Anders Moberg departed to Cirio Advokatbyrå AB in 2018.

The team at Magnusson Advokatbyrå is experienced in the financial, insurance, energy, environmental and retail sectors. Anders Bäckman leads the practice and handles domestic and cross-border transactions; he advised TF Bank on its acquisition of Intrum Justitia's stake in their joint venture, Avarda. Gustaf Leijonhufvud and senior associate Jennie Thingwall assisted the owners of Grow with its acquisition by Digitalist Group. Jonas Bergquist and Karolin Eklund are other key contacts.

Synch Advokat AB focuses on the technology sector and advises clients on a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial issues including assisting with the financing of technology start-ups. Transactional services group head Andreas Börjesson advised venture capital funds Balderton Capital and Index Ventures on the restructuring of Rebtel; the department also assisted Bonnier Ventures with its investment in Daisy Grace, and handled Daisy Grace's subsequent acquisition of Perfect Day Media. Commercial law specialist Erica Antonovic now leads the advisory services team, and Jim Runsten is another key name to note.

The team handles mid-market M&A work for a client roster including private equity funds, industrial companies and corporate finance clients. Practice head Sten Hedbäck is a 'very skilled negotiator' and assisted AAC Capital Partners with its sale of Envirotainer International to Cinven, Niclas Högström is 'very knowledgeable' and provides 'good decision making support'; and Jens Haneklint and Peter Törngren are also names to note. Newly promoted partner Vaiva Eriksson joined from the now-defunct Byström Rooth & Partners Advokater KB in 2018.

The 'highly professional yet personal' team at Eversheds Sutherland handles transactions for national and international clients and benefits from the firm's strong international network. Ulrika Sparrman, who is particularly active in public M&A, advised automobile parts supplier Autoliv on the structuring and separation process relating to its spin-off venture, Veoneer. Gabriel Albemark is praised as a 'never-ending source of energy to solve issues and meet client needs'; Jonas Bratt  is another name to note, and Michael Hylander and Jens André joined from MAQS Advokatbyrå in 2019.

Bengt Olovsson and M&A expert Jonas Forsman jointly lead the team at Hellström Law, which assists clients with transactions, joint ventures, restructurings and privatisations. MAQS Advokatbyr√•¬†handles M&A, private equity deals and joint ventures across a wide range of industries including the technology, financial and energy sectors.¬†Mikael Kowal¬†assisted the owners of the four Elektro-Centralen companies in its sale to¬†Instalco;¬†Jonas Blomquist¬†is also a key contact. At Norelid Advokatbyrå , Susanna Norelid counts BMW, Face Stockholm and DriveNow as key clients; she handles corporate and commercial matters and is also experienced in insurance and dispute resolution mandates. Recent work includes assisting Plantagen with the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements. Fredrik Seemann was promoted to partner in 2018.

Wesslau Söderqvist Advokatbyrå has a team of 'committed lawyers who act proactively with the focus on the client' and is recognised for its M&A work, where it assists public and private buyers and sellers. Björn Lind assisted Thurhed Gruppen with the divestment of all its shares in T-Emballage, including its subsidiary Innovexa, which were bought by Volat. Henrik Sjöman, Carolina Bergh and Kristoffer Jacobsson are also key practitioners in the team, and Peter Algar made partner in 2018.

The practice at Wigge & Partners acts for clients on small and mid-market deals in the private equity and technology sectors; Henrik Wenckert assisted Procuritas Capital Investors VI with its investment in PressData Stockholm Intressenter. Other clients include Altor Fund IV and Atos Medical. Michael Wigge focuses on cross-border M&A, and Bo Adrianzon and Anders Morén are key names for financing mandates.

The 'fast and professional' team at EY Law focuses on private equity and mid-market mandates; Tuula Tallavaara, who has 'vast experience and great judgement', advised an investment firm on the divestment of one of its portfolio companies  to a manufacturer.

Foyen Advokatfirma is recognised for its energy and mining sector expertise, and Stockholm team head Peter Dyer assisted Hill & Smith with its acquisition of Signalvakter. Commercial lawyer Tomas Rudenstam often advises on IT-related matters, and Jonas Nilsson and Andreas Lindström lead the Gothenburg and Malmö practices respectively.

Advokatfirman Glimstedt assists its clients across all stages of a transaction including pre-sale issues, due diligence work and contractual negotiations; Michael Lettius advised on the sale of Pullman-Ermator Group to the Husqvarna Group.
