Headed by André Marc, Allen & Overy Luxembourg’s three-strong team advises clients on a wide range of matters, including lease agreements, development projects, acquisitions and real estate fund structuring. The team regularly advises financial services clients on their real estate requirements; Serge Hoffmann recently advised Union Investment Real Estate on the sale of an office building.

At Arendt & Medernach, Christian Point has ‘a deep knowledge of the real estate market’ and recently advised Leasinvest Real Estate on the acquisition of the Mercator building from Akila Finance. Pierre Beissel handled Northwood Investors International’s €475m sale of a minority interest in French property management company Cegereal to Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC. Claude Niedner is a key name for real estate fund structuring.

Led by Albert Moro, Clifford Chance’s multi-disciplinary team is ‘a growing presence in the real estate market’ and provides an ‘excellent’ service to clients engaged in real estate-related acquisition finance, funds-related work, as well as leasing and zoning mandates. Sébastien Schmitz provides ‘thorough and precise’ advice on issues relating to office and commercial lease contracts and property acquisitions.

Benefiting from ‘excellent know-how and local market knowledge’, Dentons provides ‘pragmatic and effective’ advice across all types of real estate transactions including acquisitions, disposals, financings, developments, building renovations, property management and leasing. ‘Sharp and transaction-driven’ team head Martine Gerber-Lemaire recently advised CLS Luxembourg on the €30.2m sale of the E.On Allee office campus in Munich to ECRE Landshut. Christel Dumont is also recommended.

Elvinger Hoss Prussen handles local development projects, as well as major international real estate-related acquisitions and disposals in the retail, commercial, residential and infrastructure space. Léon Gloden is advising Agora on the development of the Belval site in the south of the country. Nathalie Prüm-Carré has expertise in urban planning law.

At Kleyr Grasso, the ‘pragmatic and reliable’ François Collot has ‘a broad real estate and construction offering’ across transactional and litigation mandates; he is acting for ArcelorMittal on the construction of a new worldwide headquarters in Luxembourg. Patrick Chantrain regularly handles corporate real estate mandates for clients including Corestate Capital. Yasmine Poos is ‘excellent’ for real estate litigation.

Linklaters’ four-partner team provides ‘an excellent service’ to clients across financing, investment management and corporate real estate transactions. Counsel Anton Cox is ‘a rising star’ and leads on many of the most significant downstream real estate transactions handled by the team. Emmanuel-Frédéric Henrion has ‘excellent knowledge of all fund structures’ and is regularly involved in upstream real estate fund structuring including advising BNP Paribas Real Estate Investment Services on the implementation of its first semi-open-ended real estate investment fund in Luxembourg.

Strengthened by the arrival in January 2017 of dedicated real estate practitioner Jean- François Trapp from MNKS, Baker McKenzie is increasingly well placed to handle wide-ranging real estate work for funds, end-users and investors. Jean-François Findling is also noted.

The ‘responsive’ two-partner team at DSM Avocats A La Cour provides ‘an excellent service’ to funds, banks, developers, brokers and contractors on matters including corporate real estate, zoning and planning, and real estate acquisition projects. Practice head Mario di Stefano has particular expertise advising on real estate development matters and Renaud Le Squeren is ‘excellent’.

Closely integrated with its strong tax offering, Loyens & Loeff’s team provides effective advice on a range of transactional, real estate-related structuring and disputes work. Véronique Hoffeld assisted multinational dairy company Fage with the acquisition of several land plots to construct a new factory.

Molitor Avocats à la Cour’s Stéphanie Juan has ‘a high level of real estate knowledge’. Real estate litigator Paulo Lopes Da Silva, who provides ‘responsive and clear’ advice, and senior associate Emily Le Vaillant are other names to note.

Thewes & Reuter regularly handles real estate disputes for private and public sector clients.
