Assegaf Hamzah & Partners's TMT practice focuses on transactions, regulatory, data privacy and cybersecurity matters. Zacky Husein helms the team and has been busy advising a number of international and domestic clients on personal data regulations. Other notable work highlights included Ahmad Fikri Assegaf advising GO-JEK on its series e round of fundraising and Ibrahim Assegaf assisting Oriente Finance with its joint venture with an Indonesian company to set up a technology-based financial institution.

Bagus Enrico & Partners (BE Partners) has advised clients in relation to data protection, outsourcing, transactions and licensing matters. Enrico Iskandar is a name of note and is experienced in TMT transactional and advisory work.

Ginting & Reksodiputro in association with Allen & Overy has a reputation for handling big-ticket TMT deals. Harun Reksodiputro co-heads the practice with Sugianto Osman; Reksodiputro worked with UCWeb on its plan to set up and an Indonesian news aggregation business, while Osman assisted Tokopedia, Indonesia’s leading online marketplace, on its $1.1b series E fundraising from Alibaba and a number of major private equity and venture funds.

Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners, a member firm of Baker McKenzie is active in the IT and telecoms space and is known for being 'very responsive', 'always correctly addressing issues' and is 'sufficiently equipped with relevant experience and knowledge in foreign investment areas'. The team is led by Mark Innis and Iqbal Darmawan who have represented clients on the fundraising of unicorn start-up GO-JEK. Mita Djajadiredja advised Global Digital Niaga on its acquisition of Tiket.com. Another key figure is M&A specialist Daniel Pardede. Also recommended is 'hardworking' associate Denny Ngadimin.

Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung in association with Herbert Smith Freehills is very active in TMT transactions and is seeing an uptick in fintech-related work. Experienced corporate partners Vik Tang and David Dawborn are names to note, as is practice head Sakurayuki, who recently advised JD.Com on its $100m investment in GO-JEK.

SSEK Legal Consultants is a popular choice for multinational technology companies operating in Indonesia; recent work highlights include advising Grab on its acquisition of Uber's business in Indonesia and assisting Didi Chuxing with its $1bn investment in Grab. Fahrul Yusuf and Michael Carl are recommended.

TMT transactions is a key focus for Ali Budiardjo, Nugroho, Reksodiputro. Agus Ahadi Deradjat leads the department and regularly advises international clients in the IT sector, while Emir Nurmansyah is active in the telecoms sector and advised Export Development Canada on the financing of a satellite for Pasifik Satelit Nusantara. Nurdin Adiwibowo is also an expert in satellite procurement projects. Also recommended is corporate partner Kevin Sidharta.

Arfidea Kadri Sahetapy-Engel Tisnadisastra (AKSET) Law is advising a number of fintech companies on the regulatory requirements surrounding digital payments in Indonesia. Abadi Abi Tisnadisastra heads up the team and advised Tokyo Century on its investment in the digital payment services company Bumi Cakrawala Perkasa. Tokopedia, Google and Blue Mobile are key clients.

Bahar is active in advising on telecoms projects as well as assisting technology companies on compliance issues. Managing partner Wahyuni Bahar is a key figure.

Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners regularly represents technology and e-commerce companies on corporate issues. Andre Rahadian is a key figure in the team.

K&K Advocates mainly act in regulatory and advisory matters such as data protection, OTT services and e-commerce, with a client base that includes Microsoft, GO-JEK and Mozilla. Justisiari Perdana Kusumah and of counsel Sherroy Ong are names to note.

Makarim & Taira S. has a strong track record in TMT transactions, particularly in the telecoms sector. Maria Sagrado and Richard Cornwallis are key figures in the team.

Rajamada & Partners is a relatively new player to the Indonesian legal market, but one that has a big focus on the technology sector. Managing partner Mada Silalahi leads the team and advised Papillon Media on its virtual crowdfunding and assisted Grab with adhering to regulations relating to the use of personal data.

UMBRA ‚Äď Strategic Legal Solutions' corporate practice regularly advises on TMT matters and is particularly proficient in the fintech¬†space. Managing partner Pramudya Oktavinanda¬†leads the team and advised¬†Pembangkitan Jawa Bali on its contractual arrangements with General Electric over the implementation of an online management system for electricity plants. Fintech specialist Putu Raditya Nugraha¬†is also recommended.

Widyawan & Partners' TMT practice focuses on transactions and general advisory work and boasts a number of tech giants on its client roster.  Corporate partner Yolanda Hutapea advised Temasek on its investment in GO-JEK during its latest round of investment, which raised approximately $1.2bn.  Other noteworthy names include M&A specialist David Holme and banking and finance expert Adrian Pranata, who are increasingly working on deals in the TMT space.
