Cuatrecasas’ Antonio Baena’s expertise includes private equity transactions and corporate finance, with particular experience in energy, finance, consumer matters and real estate; and Ignacio Buil has extensive experience in financing, debt restructuring and refinancing agreements.

The core areas of expertise covered by Garrigues’ London office are M&A, private equity, finance and restructuring. Ignacio Corbera Dale is the London office head; he specialises in M&A, corporate law and commercial contracts, particularly in relation to advising international investors with interests in Spain; and he is also well known for cross-border matters involving English-speaking countries, Italy and Latin America.

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Abogados’ London team provides advice to a wide range of corporations and entities on cross-border transactions. It has particular experience in banking, capital markets and insurance matters; corporate and commercial law and M&A and private equity deals; and restructuring. It also has textile, clothing and footwear sector expertise. International M&A and corporate and commercial law specialist Monica Weimann, who divides time between London and Madrid, is highly rated.

Pérez-Llorca’s Fernando Quicios is the partner in charge of the firm’s London office, which assists London-based entities with their investments into Spain, particularly regarding finance, private equity and capital markets matters; it also acts for Spanish investors in their ventures into the UK. In addition, the office has Spanish litigation capacity. Alongside the Madrid office, Quicios advised GED Capital Infraestructuras on the granting of asset financing to Transnugón for the acquisition of 30 liquefied natural gas-powered lorries.

Scornik Gerstein LLP is recommended for cross-border matters involving Spain, UK and LatinAmerica; the London office’s practice areas include corporate law, probate, litigation, real estate, personal injury, family and immigration matters, and environmental law. Antonio Arenas Lopez heads the litigation unit.

Uría Menéndez’s London office celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2017. It advises UK-based clients, and Spanish and Portuguese clients with interests in the UK, on both Spanish and Portuguese law; the office’s areas of expertise include corporate matters, finance, real estate, taxation and employment law. Highlights included M&A and finance specialist Juan Carlos Machuca – together with the firm’s Madrid office – advising Rolls-Royce Holdings on its acquisition of Spain’s aircraft engine components maker, ITP.
