Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is widely regarded as the 'go-to' firm for complex mergers and antitrust investigations in China and throughout Asia. Linklaters has a well-established practice that takes in high-value multi-jurisdictional merger control filings, antitrust investigations, litigation and compliance. The team is led by Fay Zhou who is deeply experienced, having previously worked at the MOFCOM. Allen & Overy LLP has an established antitrust presence in both mainland China and Hong Kong. It advises international and Chinese clients on the full range of competition matters, including merger filings, cartel investigations and compliance work. Among its recent highlights, it represented a medical devices company in an NDRC investigation and advised clients including Brocade and Hyundai Merchant Marine on their MOFCOM merger filings. Of Counsel François Renard and counsel Charles Pommiès are recommended from its Hong Kong and Beijing offices, respectively.

Baker McKenzie FenXun was the first international firm to enter a joint operation in China which enables it to handle a broad range of antitrust issues. Merger control filings feature prominently in its recent workload, which the team acted for clients including Murata Manufacturing, Texas Pacific Group and Platinum Equity Group. Clifford Chance LLP advises a mix of multinational blue-chip and Chinese clients across a wide range of industries. The team is led by Hong Kong-based Richard Blewett and is supported by Beijing-based recently promoted partner Yong Bai, who is particularly valued for his knowledge of MOFCOM procedure. The team regularly handles China merger filings as part of multibillion-dollar global M&A transactions, and has expertise in antitrust investigations and compliance issues. Informa, General Electric Company, Fujitsu and State Grid International Development are among its client list.

Hogan Lovells International LLP's China practice is integrated with the firm’s strong US and EU competition teams and often works on a cross-office basis with colleagues overseas. It regularly assists TMT and life sciences sector clients with antitrust issues in China and Hong Kong. Adrian Emch, who is bilingual in English and Mandarin is recommended.

Herbert Smith Freehills LLP is uniquely positioned to advise clients across the full spectrum of competition work; its mainland China team works closely with its Hong Kong office and has particular expertise in natural resources, TMT and healthcare transactions. Its recent workload features a mix of merger control filings, advisory matters and disputes. Among them, it advised on the merger control aspects of consumer electrics transactions in the oil and gas as well as mining sectors, and represented a multinational resource company in an alleged violation of the China anti-unfair competition law and China advertising law. Beijing-based Karen Ip and Shanghai-based Nanda Lau are the main contacts.

Jones Day  has a strong focus on MOFCOM filings, with experience of handling antitrust litigation, investigation and compliance. Practice head Peter Wang represented a technology company in the defence of a series of antitrust disputes filed in China alleging abuse of dominant market position; assisted a healthcare sector client with an NDRC investigation, and handled a steady flow of merger filings for a mix of Chinese and multinational clients. Beijing-based Yizhe Zhang is recommended, as is of counsel Qiang Xue who previously worked at NDRC.
