Position:
Partner and head of department dealing with all areas of intellectual property and competition law, both contentious and non-contentious; particularly well known for work in the life sciences sector. Non-contentious experience
includes advising on the acquisition of major IP portfolios and the exploitation and protection of IP; has also advised in relation to many leading cases including: Marion Merrell Dow v Harris Pharmaceuticals (terfenadine); Bristol Myers Squibb v Baker
Norton Pharmaceuticals and Napro (paclitaxel); and Glaxo and others v Dowelhurst and others (parallel imports). Currently instructed by Norton Healthcare Ltd in the important and highly publicised cases commenced by the Secretary of State for Health for
alleged price and market fixing, and the related criminal prosecution commenced by the SFO. Has advised a number of household names on trade marks, copyright and design matters; acts for most of the parallel importers of pharmaceuticals in the UK
(together with their trade association); and many leading generic pharmaceutical manufacturers located throughout Europe, India, Israel and the US.
