Since calling to the Scottish Bar Susanne has balanced a quality practice consisting of both civil and criminal work. In March 2011 Susanne was appointed as an Advocate Depute by the Lord Advocate to prosecute the most serious criminal cases in the High Court of Justiciary throughout Scotland, many of which are high profile or of a sensitive nature and include charges of murder, firearms, controlled drugs and sexual offences. The majority of her advocacy instructions in her own practice are to act as lead counsel. She has experience in a wide range of civil cases including appearance at Proofs and is well placed to accept instructions at Proof stage. She has considerable experience of a wide range of personal injury actions including employers' liability, occupiers' liability, medical negligence and industrial diseases. She also deals with a range of civil actions including boundary disputes and contract disputes. She is instructed as a Commissioner both in relation to evidence and documents. Susanne extended her qualifications by gaining Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2000. Susanne has maintained regular academic commitments including lecturing on the LLB at Edinburgh Napier University and tutoring on the Diploma in Legal Practice at University of Edinburgh. She is also part of a multi-disciplinary team involved in running a legal course for Scottish property managers.
